Hello Bachelorette Party

My Sister-in-law got married this past April. Her husband is in the Army and currently he is based in/they are living in Hawaii. So when she came in to Chicago for her wedding we held her bachelorette party the weekend before that. We spent some time at our house eating dinner and desserts, having some drinks, and opening some fun gifts. I really love to entertain and love to make things look nice when guests come over and this day was no exception.

I purchased brightly colored tulips and ranunculus. I wish I would have gotten some close ups - I am obsessed with ranunculus! For some reason the tulips look much droopier in this photo than they did in real life.

To cover the table I used Kraft Paper - it was a much more affordable option than buying something in the neutral palette that I wanted.

I also did a little dessert table. This was so fun to do.
I love all the bright colors.
I made some tissue poms to hang over the table.

Here are the cupcakes I picked up from Sweet Mandy B's. Their red velvet is absolutely amazing! I also picked up some Jelly Belly jelly beans - cotton candy, blue rasberry, and pina colada.

On the front dish are cakepops. I borrowed the recipe from Bakerella. I had never made these before but I must say they were absolutely delicious. They were very rich and chocolatey and everybody loved them. I will definitely be making these again - plus they were extremely easy. The paper behind the cakepops is from PaperSource I really love the colors and the butterfly pattern.

Here is my little macaron croquembouche. I don't know how to pronounce this word and I just call it a macaron tower. I ordered the macarons from Vanille Patisserie and they were so pretty and definitely taste like nothing I have had before.

So here is how it looked when you entered our front door.

I love dessert tables. I think they are such a fun and tasty way to be creative. Amy Atlas is an absolute pro at these. If you don't already know who she is then you need to check out her website and blog. She does the absolute most beautiful work and I could look at it for hours upon hours.

I definitely think the next time I do one of these there will have to be a backdrop. Even if it is a plain white canvas - just something to make all the pretty things on the table stand out a little more. Amy's blog also gives some little pieces of advice - one being to cut the cakepop sticks so they are a little shorter and don't end up covering up whatever is behind it, I'll be doing this next time as well. Overall, though, for a first try though I am pretty happy with the end results.
