Wedding Wednesday: Chevron Cake

We all know that wedding cakes have come a long way from the traditional white frosted, vanilla cake.  You can pretty much have any flavor combination you can dream of and there are such amazing artists out there that your cake can take on any look you'd like.  One of the cake trends I've been loving lately is seeing cakes decorated in a chevron pattern.

This one almost looks like carrara marble!

Wedding Wednesday: Poppy

I've been helping my sister out quite a bit over the last few weeks with the planning of her wedding.  One of the things I'm so excited about is her decision to use the color poppy in her wedding.  She is planning on having her bridesmaids in J. Crew's Vivid Poppy.

It is going to be tough to find the right color for certain elements - it really has to be the right mix of red, orange, and pink and it has to uber bright.  Here is some of the inspiration I have collected with this charming color.

Hello Black Door

I'm currently obsessing over the idea of painting the interior of our front door black.  I love this look and I think with our pale grey walls and white trim it will be a great contrast.  Here's my inspiration.

Thoughts on the contrasting entry door? Have any of you made the leap and painted your door a surprise color?

Hello Week

I enjoyed a lovely 4 day weekend for Easter and today is back to reality for me.  Here's a little motivation for any one else out there trying to get back into the swing of things.

Happy Tuesday!

Hello Dreamy Home

I love our little condo in the city and I love our life here.  We live in a great neighborhood, we have (for the most part) great neighbors, there are delicious restaurants within walking distance, a fantastic farmers market in the summer months and the shopping is abundant.  But sometimes (especially after busy weekends like this past one) I find myself dreaming of what our lives would be like if we lived some place a little quieter in our own space on our own land.  Here is what the dream consists of:

A cozy home with a green front yard

A welcoming front porch to relax on

A back yard with grass and trees and a little hammock couldn't hurt

Greenery everywhere!

And on my wishlist is one of these dog doors.
