Yes folks, its true. I finally have another bathroom update for you. Our tile is now in and grouted. The vanity has been ordered (they said 4-5 weeks and that was 2 weeks ago now, so hopefully only another couple of weeks and that will arrive). We visited a marble/granite warehouse to pick out slabs for our counters and our shower. We just have to finalize our choice and have them come out and measure. But for now here is the completed tile. I'm hoping within the next few weeks this space will finally be completed. Here's what we've got as of now (I'm sorry the pictures are a little dark - there is not much light in the room yet).
White subway tile was used on all the walls in the bathroom as well as the shower. I chose a chair rail tile across the top. We used snow white grout for all areas with the subway tile. The mirrors are the framed inset medicine cabinets from Restoration Hardware. Due to our low ceilings in this room we purchased the small size cabinets.
Here is the wall opposite them mirrors. You can somewhat see our base board. Our tile installer actually used our leftover 12x12 tiles and cut them down to use for the baseboard. This allowed us to have the carrara base at a much lower price than we would have paid for at any store.
Here is the detail of what we did for around the shower. The inside part of the shower is finished with bullnose tiles and the outside edge of the shower is finished with the chair rail tile that was continued over from the walls.
The shower floor was done the same way as the bathroom floor. 12x12 carrara tiles were cut and used as a border around the brick patterned carrara and the basket weave mosaic. Platinum colored grout was used on all the carrara.
Here is our shower shelf. I have always loved the look of Mrs. Limestones shower shelf with the chair rail surround so I borrowed that idea for our own bathroom.
So we've still got a ways to go but it's nice to actually check another thing off the list. I'll be back later this week with an update of our shower with all of the hardware/faucets installed.
Stunning, stunning + stunning. xx

ReplyDeleteWho was your installer? He did a fantastic job!!! Gorgeous bath!
ReplyDeleteCan you tell us where you bought the chair rail tile? I'm having a really hard time finding it without selling a kidney! Looks great.
ReplyDeleteSeriously! Amazing job! You have me thinking we could do this! We almost broke up over hanging a mirror once, so I think we're going to leave tiling to the pros. But well done you!

Is the shower floor tile polished or honed? We chose similar tile that's polished for a new shower and the tile contractor has warned that it will be slippery.
