Hello Colette

A few weeks ago I purchased 8 of the Colette Dining Chairs from Crate & Barrel off of craigslist. I got a ridiculous deal on the chairs and they were immediately picked up by the upholsterer. The chairs are getting dropped off today and I cannot wait to see them! I had my eyes on these chairs for quite a while but could not even fathom the $500 a chair price tag. I will hopefully be back tomorrow with some photos of my new dining friends!

Hello Parisian Guest Bath

At the end of my last issue of House Beautiful was one of the most glamorous bathrooms I've seen. The detail and the little bits of luxury throughout were just beautiful. I would love to be a guest in that home just to see this little gem for myself!

Hello Built-Ins

Built in bookcases and cabinets were something I knew I would want in our living room on both sides of the fireplace from when we first purchased our home. We've finally starting contacting some cabinet makers and collecting estimates and making drawings to get the project started. We definitely have some obstacles (backlighting on the sides of the fireplace which I don't want to lose as well as an angled wall on one side). My biggest goal is to have it look simple and clean and yet still be fully functional for us - lots of storage and lots of hiding spaces for the TV components.

Here are some of my favorite inspiration photos of Built ins surrounding a fireplace.

I love the look of the square box shelves here and the detail on the cabinet doors.

More box shelves.

I really like the simplicity of this one.

Completely asymmetrical but very cool looking.

Again here, great detail on the doors.

This one might be my favorite.

There are so many options that it makes it really hard to nail down one design. I love simple shaker style cabinets and symmetrical shelving but I also love the look of the box shelves, the detailed cabinet doors and the asymmetrical shelving. Hopefully I'll have a concrete design plan and drawing in the next couple of weeks. Wish me luck!

Hello Christmas Cards

Yes - it's February and I am finally posting photos of our Christmas cards from this year (ahem - last year now). I used these gift tag templates from Eat Drink Chic. I cut off the top portion to make them look more like cards instead of gift tags. I then added ribbon, some glitter, and wrote messages on the backsides.

OK, I'm really done with the Christmas related posts now. I promise. Although I could probably look at burlap year round.

Hello 2 Horatio Street

Dear Husband,

I am mildly obsessed with this New York Penthouse. It supposedly may be Jennifer Aniston's new home. I would like it to be mine instead. It would be a really lovely Valentine's Day gift. Pretty please?!

Love,
Beth

Now if you love it as much as I do it can be yours for the small sum of $14.95 million.

Hello Guest Bath

Alright folks, I'm going to need your help on this one. Today is the last day of the Restoration Hardware Bath sale and I need to make some purchases. Mainly - a drain trap, water supply lines, and a faucet. Below is the Gramercy Washstand with glass legs. I purchased this sucker last year on super sale from Restoration Hardware (minus the marble top - I can purchase one somewhere for way less than what RH was going to charge). The finish on mine is satin nickel because that is all that was available. Would it be OK to order the other items in polished nickel? I like the shiny-ness more on the polished finish. What about mixing finishes - could I do the satin nickel and add some brass/bronzey hardware? So many decisions and so little time.

And for the even bigger questions what look do I go for in here? It is a guest bathroom, we have a claw foot tub that was originally in our master bath, and we have a toilet that is already there. Other than that I've just got lots of ideas and pretty images.

I'm loving the brass in these images but I'm a little chicken to go that route - would you/have you?!

And my current fave: Herringbone pattern.

I'm also loving the shape of the backsplash in this one.

I'm stuck. Help.
