Hello Dallas

Every summer my husband and I take a trip out to Dallas to visit his Aunt, Uncle, and 3 younger cousins. We always have a blast with them. Lots of swimming, playing with the kids, and drinking margaritas! This year we took our trip at the same time that Dave Matthews Band was playing there - my husband is a ridiculously huge fan, he has literally been to 20 of his concerts. Here's some photos from the night, we actually had the unbelievable opportunity to meet Dave.

My husband on the left, me in the middle, and of course Dave on the right.

Dave was quirky, funny, and definitely took the time to make some good conversation. It was an amazing night to say the least.

Hello Pumpkin Spice

Everyone has their own little things that solidify the change of seasons for themselves. For me and fall it's the Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. It's one of my absolute favorite things and I always make myself hold out until there's that crispy, fall feeling going on in the air. Welp, the time has come, fall is here and I have had my first pumpkin spice latte of the season and it was delicious and oh so worth the wait. What really symbolizes the beginning of fall for you?

Hello Staircase

A while back I posted a little tour of our home which included our stairway. It was carpeted when we moved in but all the carpet had to be removed due to my husbands allergy to cats and the fact that the last owner had two cats, plus it was just gross, old carpeting. Well, these stairs looked like this for over a year and a half! We either wore our shoes to go downstairs (where our master is located) or we took the risk and usually ended up snagging our socks. Well we finally got them redone and I could not be happier with how they came out.

Before

After

The risers and the base still needs to repainted but I really love the way they look now. We hired someone for this project because the stairs that were there were in really bad shape and actually needed to be replaced and not just stained/sealed. I didn't think it was a great idea for us to build a staircase - I was picturing one of us going right through a tread one day if we made this a diy project.

The guy we hired did his best to match our flooring on the lower level which is engineered hardwood - its a very close match and I don't think anyone but else will really ever notice it's not the same, I think this picture exaggerates the difference a little bit because of the angle I took it at. When we have saved up enough to do the upstairs floors they will be stained to match the stairway.

A look from the top.

It feels great to be able to scratch one more project off of our list.

Hello Oprah

I am ecstatic right now because today I am going here,

To see her!

I've literally been trying to get tickets to her show for 8 years now (which is nearly 1/3 of my life). I've spent plenty of time listening to busy signals and in more recent years submitting online forms for tickets, to no avail, and finally last week I received an email confirming my reservation!

Sorry things have been a little quiet around here this week - I'll be back to regular posting again next week. I've got some home updates as well as some random photos from the last few months to share. Hope you all have a great long weekend!

Hello The Cove

I'm a lover of all beautiful things. Few can deny the beauty of a dolphin. Please watch.

My husband and I watched the entire documentary last night. It's truly heartbreaking that this goes on anywhere in the world. Take action here.
