Hello Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year we are lucky enough to be able to enjoy dinner at my parents home - much less stressful and much less work than hosting it ourselves. Last year, however, we did host Thanksgiving in our home and it was the first Holiday we had hosted for our families.

Here are some images of our Thanksgiving table from last year.

I spray painted manzanita branches and pumpkins a silver/gold color.

The linens are from Martha Stewart's line for Macy's - I got them on clearance and it's a great silver/grey color with a simple, pretty pattern.

We used the china we had received for our wedding and my Grandmothers silver which I was lucky enough to receive as a shower gift. (I really wish I would have fixed that crooked spoon prior to this photo!).

Here is a photo of my husband's father and my father cutting our turkey. It was the first turkey I have ever made on my own. I brined it for 2 days in Williams Sonoma brine and then cooked it in a bag on the day of - it was really delicious!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends!

Hello Annechovie

I absolutely adored this stamp that Anne Harwell of the blog Annechovie posted about on Tuesday. It is the perfect accent for your Holiday cards.

I've been a long time follower of Anne's blog and her artwork which consists of paintings of beautiful rooms and colorful pieces of furniture. Check out her etsy shop here and check out some of her other items including this cheerful stamp here. Thanks for all the wonderful inspiration Anne!

Wedding Wednesday

For this week's Wedding Wednesday I have two lovely videos to share.

This first video was found here on design sponge and chronicles the day of a couple's elopement. It really reminds me of what the big day is supposed to be all about.

Video by Britt Simmons

This second video is a super sweet engagement, built around a great love song. Found via Chateau de Lu.

This one is possibly fake according to lots of comments on youtube and perezhilton - but I like to believe it's real.

Hello New Arcadia

A New Arcadia sale started yesterday over at One Kings Lane. I must say that I loved so many of the items in this sale. So much so that I had to purchase a couple items - I figured since we will be hosting Christmas this year it's the perfect reason to purchase some new, pretty glasses/plates. Here is what I scored.

Check out One Kings Lane to see even more wonderful sales. If you need an invitation to join let me know and I will email the invite to you.

Hello Veteran's Day

This post is dedicated to my brother in law, Matt, and all the other service men and women of both past and present. We are so grateful for the sacrifice you all have made for our country. Matt is currently on a year long tour in Iraq - we are constantly praying for his safe return and strength for his wife Katie while she anxiously awaits his homecoming.

Hello Wedzu

For this week's installment of Wedding Wednesday's I am showing you a great new place to shop for all things wedding. Last month a new website started up - Wedzu. It's full of indie and handmade wedding goods.

They have a little bit of everything. From Paloma's Nest Ring Bowls,
To some great reception items - check out these great guest book cards,

To tissue Poms!

They even have wedding attire - check out this silk wrap!

Pretty paper goods.

I love these personalized stays.

How about this hair piece?!

Great jewelry.

And what might be my current favorite - cake flags!

What a darling way to decorate some home made or simple wedding cakes - or really a great way to decorate a cake for any event.

You'll have to check it out for yourself to see all the other great items they have.

Hello Doorknob

All the major work in our bathroom is finally complete. We are just working on adding the finishing touches - the toilet paper holder, sealing the tile, painting the door and moulding, and putting this lovely doorknob, which I just purchased, on the door so there's not a gaping hole while you are trying to use the bathroom.

I really love it. Found here via here. I'm hoping we will actually be using this thing by week's end!
